Just how easy is it to make change?
I have my clients permission to share an experience today. A relatively new client came today feeling quite downhearted after a bad weekend. At first I thought it almost impossible to do anything today other than just listen. Which is sometimes a good thing. There was a lot of negativity in the room and "can't" was used a number of times. I remembered seeing this image on line and it had struck me how one word could change dramatically by cutting off the last letter!
I invited my client to write "I CAN" on a large piece of paper and we spent some time thinking of motivational words that began with the letters "C A and N". There was a lot of laughter in the room whilst they called out words and wrote them down, one or two of which could not be repeated here! At the end of our session my client admitted to having not laughed as much for ages. I was reminded of how much a tonic laughter can be and there the work had been done.
Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.
